Details and Itinerary

Programme content and guideline itinerary

The traineeship lasts for between 6 and 10 weeks (depending on your dive level) and is conducted at a PADI Career Development Centre (highest rating possible). It has been carefully constructed to include core PADI courses, custom-built training modules, adventure trips and as much in-water experience as possible. All these features ensure you not only receive a professional learning experience but that the learning is fun, relaxed, enjoyable and rewarding.

Aside from being trained up to Divemaster, you can receive hands on experience with compressor operations, kit maintenance, leading dives, safety procedures, front office and customer liaison, boat management, professional procedures (including attitude, insurance, sales and CV writing) and dive chamber treatment. These skills form part of our ‘Divemaster work experience module’ which can be added-on. The module is excellent value and ensures that you spend a good amount of time experiencing and practicing professional skills. This module is only available on our traineeship in Dahab.

The traineeship also includes a number of key elements which you might not get on other internships. First of all you get unlimited diving as standard! If you want to go out front and practice some skills or go for a dive then we don’t have a problem with it – get wet! You’re here for the diving and we want you to get the most out of the experience!

We also offer a wide range of PADI speciality courses. These can greatly benefit your diver development and there are plenty to choose from. None of these are compulsory to get to Divemaster, but if you choose at least 5 then you can automatically apply for your Master Scuba Diver certificate - another string to your bow! If there's a few we would recommend they would be EANx (Nitrox) Speciality which teaches you about diving with enriched air (more oxygen), PADI Deep Diver Speciality which qualifies you to dive to 40m and the PADI Digital Underwater Photography Speciality as there is so much to see in the Red Sea!

Multiple excursions are also available and we would strongly recommend these trips as they break-up the learning and are often exciting and adventurous! There's a camel safari to Ras Abu Gallum where the diving is unspoilt, a trip to the Thistlegorm shipwreck (excellent and must-do), numerous boat trips to Gabr el Bint (Whale Sharks and Dolphins often seen here) and take a hike to the top of Mt Sinai for sunrise before taking a tour round St Catherine’s Monastery (which houses some of the oldest copies of the bible) .

Achievements

Upon completion of this programme you will be certified as a PADI Divemaster and have plenty of experience working around a busy dive centre. You will be able to assist instructorsguide dives and teach selected PADI courses as well! The qualification will look fantastic on your CV as it proves competence, perseverance, passion and responsibility. Furthermore it’s a professional certification which you can use to gain employment working as a PADI Divemaster. As part of the programme you will write a CV detailing your achievements so that you can start applying for work straight away!

Accommodation

We are currently using temporary accommodation in Dahab whilst we source a new house for our customers. If you book this programme you can expect to stay in a local hotel at no additional charge whilst we make changes to the accommodation setup.

What we normally offer is self-catered accommodation in the heart of the Bedouin village of Assalah. This is an authentic and original concept and provides customers with independence during their stay. It is a very popular choice amongst our customers and we will endeavour to source a new house as soon as possible. Once we have found a new house (which has been vetted for security and safety) it will sleep up to 8 people. You share a room with one other person and there are communal washroom facilities. The house will have a TV room with satellite TV, an outside area /garden, a BBQ so you can have your own social events and a kitchen which is fully equipped. Having your own accommodation enables you to escape from the dive centre each day and live an independent life during your time in Dahab.

For more information about the current situation regarding accommodation please call the office on 0845 257 3292.
