This is a structured professional Divemaster Internship 'down under'. It is designed for beginners as well as for those with PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water qualifications. The internship spans 12 weeks and encompasses a range of learn-to-dive courses, speciality dives, first aid courses, professional courses and work experience. When you graduate you will be both a PADI Master Scuba Diver and a professional PADI Divemaster!
Your first two weeks are spent familiarising yourself with diving in the area and getting the PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water courses completed. If you are already qualified as an entry-level diver, we give you the choice of logging some extra dives and recapping previous courses.
Weeks three to five focus on first aid, rescue skills, Enriched Air Nitrox and recreational diving to get your logged dives up before starting the Divemaster course. During this period you also do a unique PADI Speciality course to the area - a PADI 'Botany Bay Watch' Specialty Course (Marine Research). This introduces you to some basic marine research techniques employed in the area and complements your understanding of the marine environment.
From week 6 you start the Divemaster training. This is primarily done in and around Sydney but you also spend 2 weeks on-board a liveaboard vessel on the Great Barrier Reef. You experience guiding dives, assisting instructors and looking after customers whilst on the boat whilst in Sydney you are trained in Compressor Operations, tank filling adn supervising Instructor with training. During this time you also do a number of Instructor and first-aid courses. These not only broaden your knowledge but enhance your chance of employment on completion of the programme.
