Gap Year Diver is committed to making its online resources accessible to all visitors. We continually review our site and modify pages to remove accessibility problems for people with disabilities and to make information more accessible for all users. All of our content is checked for Plain English, and we aim to use a written style which is straightforward and understandable.
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines stipulate that a web design and structure should be accessible to people with Disabilities, detailed in the DDA. Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 can be found at http://www.w3.org/TR/WAI-WEBCONTENT/.
We have followed a list of accessibility guidelines when designing this web site and its content to be user accessible for people with disabilities.
In line with the guidelines we have tried to:
- Allow visitors to resize all text;
- Allow visitors to view the website in Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari and Google Chrome
- Maintain a standard layout and navigation system throughout;
- Use headings, paragraphs, lists and other HTML (HyperText Markup Language) to create a logical document structure;
- Use Cascading Style Sheets in the design of the site
- Use plain backgrounds to improve the readability of text;
- Use standard colors throughout;
- Enable users to use the 'tab' and 'return' keys to navigate the site;
- Provide titles for links;
- Provide orientation information;
- Use 'ALT' attributes on ALL images, and provide a title where appropriate;
- Design layouts to work satisfactorily at a range of screen resolutions; we reommend that this site is viewed at 1024 x 748 pixels and above;
If you have any suggestions on how to improve the site please e-mail Gap Year Diver to discuss website accessibility further.
