Itinerary

This is a sample itinerary for the Bridge the Gap programme. Certain activities and excursions may change when you are out there.

Weeks 1 and 2

During your first few weeks you do the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. This exciting program includes a total of five adventure dives (you must include deep and navigation dive) and certifies you to dive to 30m. In week two, you carry out the PADI EFR and Rescue Diver Courses. These courses develop your knowledge and skills so you can effectively perform diver assists and rescues, manage diving accident situations and render first aid. The courses are an important step in expanding your knowledge and experience as a diver. The courses are fun and rewarding and get you prepared for the Divemaster programme.

The end of week two week sees you through the PADI Enriched Air Diver course - the most popular speciality course available. The main advantages of Nitrox diving are increased bottom times (time spent at maximum depth), especially in the 20 to 30 metre range, and reduced levels of nitrogen in your system (ideal if you plan on multiple daily dives).

Weeks 3, 4, 5 and 6

The PADI Divemaster programme starts at the end of your second week. The programme is very well structured with a nice balance between diving and classroom study. During the Divemaster course you learn a lot about dive leadership skills through both classroom and independent study. There are a wide range of water skills and stamina exercises, as well as training exercises that stretch your ability to organise and solve problems. You will put this knowledge into action as an intern at our dive centre and through a series of practical training exercises arranged by your instructor.

It's not all learning! During your stay you have unlimited diving and can expect to go out diving on a daily basis. By the end of your stay you will probably have logged somewhere in the region of 50 to 60 dives! Whenever dives go out you'll have the opportunity to tag along and even get the chance to lead dives during the Divemaster course.

On completion
After the course has finished you'll be able to work as a professional earning money to dive. Although the money is not amazing, it is certainly enough to live-off in places like Egypt and Thailand and you'll be able to guide dives, supervise instructors and obtain work at any one of the 5600 PADI dive schools wordwide. Imagine...working as a diver during university holidays rather than behind a bar or using the qualification to earn money whilst you travel!
